Update From the MouseFest Chairman
==========================================
Is it really just 40 days before the start of the MouseFest Cruise and 43 days before MouseFest Land gets underway? The clock is definitely ticking down towards our wonderful gathering! The Pocket Guide to MouseFest is being printed, the pins and lanyards for registered attendees are on order, and MouseFest attendees all over the world are working on their own pre-trip checklists... is this exciting, or what?!
I'm delighted to say that so far, more than 500 MouseFest attendees have shown their support for MouseFest by registering for the event. (Visit http://www.mousefest.org/register/whoscoming.php to see who's coming!) One of the big benefits of registration is that you'll receive your Pocket Guide to MouseFest, MouseFest ID, lanyard and cloisonne pin by mail, so you'll be all ready to party, meet, and greet when you arrive at MouseFest. There are still several weeks to go before we begin working on the mail-outs, so if you haven't registered yet or have friends or family members who are "Thinking about it," now's a great time to go to MouseFest.org to sign up. The official registration cut-off date is November 1 to allow us time to prepare the mail-outs, so don't delay! To all of you who have already registered, THANK YOU! Your support for MouseFest is greatly appreciated.
Speaking of cut-off dates, reservations with the special MouseFest rate at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin must be made by Monday, November 12. After this date, the price goes up. Get details at: http://www.mousefest.org/swan-dolphin-rates.asp
The roster of communities, celebrities, and businesses participating in MouseFest just keeps growing, as does the schedule of meets! There are 21 meets now scheduled for the MouseFest Cruise, and 82 meets on the MouseFest Land schedule - more than 100 in all. And we now have 21 communities and web sites, 21 podcasters, 10 authors/writers, 9 businesses, 10 Underwriting Sponsors, and even more are in the works. This is really cool! View the schedule of events at http://www.mousefest.org
In our last newsletter, Owner's Locker announced a contest, looking for creative answers to the not particularly musical question, "How would you use an Owner's Locker at MouseFest 2007?" Five winning entries were selected for their imagination and creativity. Our congratulations go to Tacey, Photographer, Kathyseb and Yensid, Frogman, and Bookwood for wowing the judges with your entries.
We're also pleased to announce that GoodyPak.com is offering a special discount to registered attendees (along with the discounts from MapleLeafTickets.com and PassPorter.com). Details on that discount are available after you complete registration. For those who've already registered, expect an e-mail regarding the discount within the next day.
Speaking of contests, Disney has been contacting the latest round of survivors as is goes about the process of selecting a team of "Disney Moms," and members of several MouseFest-participating communities have been advancing through the ranks. Congratulations to them all! Since the winning "Moms" will be attending a Disney orientation session at Walt Disney World at the same time as MouseFest, who knows? Perhaps we'll have some new celebrities in our midst!
Please also take a moment to visit our MouseFest Buzz page which lists all the great articles, podcasts, and other "word of mouse" about MouseFest! If you know of something that should be listed here but is not, please contact us!
The next edition of this newsletter will arrive in early November.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at MouseFest,
Dave Marx
MouseFest 2007 Chairman
P.S. Don't forget to fill out our Pre-Arrival Survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=_2bm_2bLaOpiLCRqDvU_2fpN0VHg_3d_3d -- we're requesting that everyone hoping to attend MouseFest 2007 fill in this survey, even if you've registered or are planning to register. This will help us gauge attendance figures and know what to expect.

Feature Article: Strangers Like Me
==========================================
by Eric King, Mouse Guest Weekly Podcast Co-Host
This year will be my first to attend MouseFest, and I couldn't be more excited. Sure, at first the event can seem like a daunting one, with all the different meets scheduled and planning to do. The task becomes even more intimidating when considering my first time heading to MouseFest is coupled with being a participating community. However, I'm learning that those involved with MouseFest, from the organizers to the visiting guests, are more than willing to lend a hand or offer some advice to help.
I've come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to participate in every meet that I would like. There simply aren't enough hours in the day, and a few hours of sleep would be nice. This stark realization may be a downer to some, but not me. It just means that I'll have to come back next year for MouseFest 2008! (Yes, I'm already thinking about next year.)
It's odd to think that our community will be hosting meets and will have a table at the Mega Mouse Meet alongside some of the Disney "celebrities" that I've admired for years. Webmasters who run sites that I've checked every morning for years; authors whose books sit near my computer desk, ready to be accessed easily (and often); podcasters that I listen to each and every week, so much that I feel that I know these people that I've never met.
It seems like all of the communities coming to MouseFest are all fans of each other's work, and we're all just as thrilled to meet each other as the other MouseFest guests are. There is a common bond between all of us that will be there, meet organizer and meet attendee, and that is the magic of Disney.
Outside of the gates of the Disney resorts (you know, in the "real" world) we may get strange looks when we tell our co-workers that we're going to Disney for vacation ("Yes, again."). We may have trouble explaining to our family members just what is so exciting about getting our pictures taken with some college kid in a mouse suit.
But, at MouseFest, we are comforted in the fact that we're surrounded by other people that understand the allure, the magic, that Disney offers. People we may have only met once or twice, or perhaps people that we have only communicated with through online chat rooms and message boards, can feel comfortable walking up to each other with a big smile, like they're reconnecting with an old college roommate.
I am reminded of the words to a song from Disney's "Tarzan":
"Whatever you do, I'll do it, too
Show me everything and tell me how"
"I can see there's so much to learn
It's all so close and yet so far"
"I wanna know, can you show me
I wanna know about these strangers like me"
While I don't totally know what to expect, I do know that there will be many smiles, much laughter, and enough memories to carry on for years. I look forward to meeting all of you "strangers" out there. Strangers like me.
See you at MouseFest!

MouseFest 2007 Land News
==========================================
The MouseFest Land Event schedule is chock full of a wide variety of meets in each of the four major theme parks, Downtown Disney, and also at some of the resorts.
Here is a taste of some of the meets recently added to the schedule:
* DisFriends.com Character Quests - Get character greeting tips and tricks and meet favorite characters at Camp Minnie-Mickey, Hollywood Boulevard, Future World, and Main Street, U.S.A. (four different meets)
* American Adventure Meet - Enjoy one of the most innovative attractions at Epcot with the folks from Dreamfinder Forever and Mousetime
* Hidden History at Magic Kingdom - Take a brief tour with author Kevin Yee around the park to scope out old ride remnants, inside jokes, and tributes!
Additionally, RADP.org is a participating community with MouseFest again this year, and we have a whole slew of new RADP meets that we're in the process of adding to the schedule. So keep an eye out for those events, too!
These events and many more are described in detail at http://www.mousefest.org/landevents2007main.asp

MouseFest 2007 Cruise News
==========================================
With 144 registered cruisers (so far!) and a great schedule of events, the fifth annual MouseFest cruise is shaping up to be a WONDERful time as always!
We're pleased to announce that the grand prize for our "Wonderful" Stateroom Door Decorating Contest is a two-night stay at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin! Other prizes from PassPorter and AllEarsNet will be awarded to runners-up, too! Sign up your stateroom for the decorating contest at http://www.mousefest.org/cruisenewssignup.asp .
TIP: You can view photos of decorated doors from our last MouseFest cruise and get decorating tips and hints, too -- visit http://www.mousefest.org/cruiseevents2007.asp
Did you know there is a scheduled shuttle launch from Port Canaveral the day we return from our cruise? The Shuttle Atlantis is currently scheduled for launch on December 6 at 4:30 pm. While staying to watch the launch isn't an option for some of us as there are MouseFest events starting at 1:00 pm, others may wish to stay. Good viewing sites for the general public include the Cocoa Beach Pier and any of the beaches south of Port Canaveral along the Space Coast. For more information, visit Kennedy Space Center's site at http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/launches/scheduleStatus.asp .
There's just so much to do! You'll find a full listing of MouseFest Cruise events at:
