Update From the MouseFest Chairman
==========================================
It's time! MouseFest cruisers are busily packing for Sunday's big bon voyage, and the start of MouseFest Land events is little more than a week away!
We are amazed to announce that 780 persons are now registered for MouseFest 2007, including 168 MouseFest cruisers! MouseFest registration has now closed (see below), so we can say with confidence that, yes, that's our final answer!
The excitement continues to build in the Disney communities as the calendar ticks down! Be sure to visit your own community's web site(s) for community updates, and be sure to swing by the official MouseFest web site at http://www.MouseFest.org, where you'll find the most up-to-date listing of who is attending and what's happening.
MouseFest Registration is closed!
All good things must come to an end, so MouseFest Registration has now closed. This was our first year with voluntary, paid registration (previously, registration was totally free, but offered fewer benefits), and we're delighted and gratified by how many of you showed your support. All your registration packets have been mailed out. If you don't receive yours by the time you have to leave for your trip (nearly everyone should already have theirs), we can provide replacement ID badges, etc. at the Mega Mouse Meet on Saturday, December 8. Please stop by the Reception Table outside Mega Mouse Meet beginning at 11:30 am and let the volunteers know your situation.
Not registered? That doesn't mean you are out of luck -- MouseFest is still open to all, registered or not. Just check the event listings at http://www.mousefest.org and join in the fun (if an RSVP or registration for a specific meet is required, please be sure to comply).
The Mega Mouse Meet
The Mega Mouse Meet on Saturday, December 8 is shaping up to be huge! There will be more than 40 exhibit tables packed with people to meet and friends to greet, and plenty of space to mingle and meet your fellow attendees. We're in a much larger hall this year than we were last year, and we're still managing to fill every corner.
Need even more reasons to come?
Swag! There will be oodles of stuff given away, and we'll even have sturdy shopping bags handy so you have some way to carry it all!
Raffle prizes! If you're a registered attendee, you received a numbered wristband in your registration packet. Don't leave it behind! That's your raffle number for our prize giveaways (we figured a wristband was harder to lose). Not registered? No problem! You can get a wristband; too - just fill in a raffle entry card at the reception table when you arrive at Mega Mouse Meet.
You must be present at the drawings during the Extra Mouse Fest Hour (Noon - 1:00pm - registered attendees only) and/or at the end of Mega Mouse Meet to win. Here's the list of prizes so far:
All Ears Net - Photo Gift Basket from AllEarsNet's Picture This! Bloggers: WDW photo album, mini-tripod, memory card wallet, disposable underwater camera, digital photography book, lens cleaning kit, Arcsoft Funhouse software

As always, we'll have tables hosted by the many communities, organizations, and notables attending MouseFest, a kids table with loads of fun activities for the little ones (Hosted by Destinations in Florida), lots of space for socializing and grown-up pin trading, and of course, many opportunities to obtain autographs from authors and other notables.
Books! If you don't already own the book(s) you want to have autographed, some authors will be selling their own books for your convenience, and a local bookseller will be on hand to make sure that every other attending author's books are available (of course, if you already have your own copies, bring them with you!).
Breakout Session! For the first time at Mega Mouse Meet, we'll have a breakout room to go along with the ballroom, and Greg Ehrbar, two-time Grammy nominee, DisneyWorld.com columnist, and MOUSE TRACKS co-author, will be presenting "Disney Music: Three Little Pigs to Enchanted." Greg will chronicle the history of Disney music, before and after the creation of Walt Disney's in-house record company. Rare photos, video and audio clips celebrate a parade of hits and provide glimpses at people and events that shaped this little-known corner of Disney. Disney CDs will be awarded to lucky attendees. (Dolphin Resort, Europe 1 Conference Room, Saturday 3:30pm - 5:00pm, no registration required)
Whether you're coming by land to Walt Disney World, by sea on the Disney Wonder (December 2-6) or both ... we'll see you in just a few more days!

Feature Article: It All Started With a "Mouse"
==========================================
by Cheryl Pendry, PassPorter Guide, Featured Columnist, and E-Book Author
[Editor's Note: We're all too busy packing to write a new article for this last newsletter, so we're reprinting an oldie but goodie that was written after MouseFest 2006 -- enjoy!]
What do you call hundreds of Disney fans all gathered in the same place to enjoy the magic together? MouseFest!
Of course it all started with a mouse, but this particular week long celebration, now an annual event, really grew out of the Internet and the many Disney web sites and message boards, such as http://www.passporterboards.com, where people can meet like minded friends. In fact, it was PassPorter authors Dave and Jennifer Marx, along with AllEarsNet founder Deb Wills who started the whole ball rolling, with the first official MouseFest in 2003.
Since then it's grown in size, as one quick look at the official website http://www.mousefest.org will show. So what can you expect from MouseFest?
We went for the first time in 2005, wondering exactly the same thing. Our participation was limited to the land based events, as our budget unfortunately couldn't stretch to include the cruise, no matter how hard I tried!
One thing we did learn is that you'll get so much more out of MouseFest if you've "met" some of those taking part online before you get there. The message boards are a great place to do that as well as learn details of some of the meets being planned. It's so much easier to talk to people face to face if you already know something about them from the posts they've made on message boards. We found that many of the meets were like coming face to face with old friends, even though it was the first time we'd seen many of these people. It's certainly an odd feeling and not one that you can prepare for, but it's also a wonderful feeling! You instantly feel part of a very special community. So if you haven't done so already, log on a Disney fan message board, and start getting to know those that you'll be meeting up with!
What is wonderful about MouseFest is that you discover you're not the only one who loves Disney. There are literally hundreds of people who share your passion and exploring the parks with them gives you a new perspective on the Walt Disney World Resort.
One thing you mustn't miss if you're at MouseFest is the Mega Mouse Meet, which takes place on the Saturday of MouseFest at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort. It's the centerpiece event and is packed with Disney guidebook authors, web site founders and representatives of various Disney communities. Before I attended this event, I really thought I was a Disney fan and knew about every source of information on the market about the place, but the Mega Mouse Meet proved me wrong. We found many new publications and web sites that we'd never come across before and were able to chat with lots of people and learned a great deal about our favorite happy place.
There really is something for everyone at MouseFest. On the cruise, which is the perfect place for a group get together, you can take a walking tour of Nassau, join the sail away party, enter the pirate costume competition or the sandcastle competition on Castaway Cay or just lounge around with Jennifer, Dave, and Deb.
During the land portion of the event, each day is allocated a specific park, where most of the events will be taking place. Every year, you can hunt for Hidden Mickeys with Steve Barrett, author of the Hidden Mickeys book, which gives you a fascinating way to look at the parks, or see how many safari vehicles you can fill at Kilimanjaro Safaris with the AllEarsNet team.
As well as all the organized events, because there are so many Disney fans in the parks, it's also possible to arrange your own meets with people you know -- and this is where getting to know people beforehand is invaluable. Some of our fondest memories were the meets that were literally arranged on the day, with a quick phone call to ask if we wanted to come along with watch SpectroMagic with them that night or spotting friends in a park and seeing if they were free to join up with us for the next couple of hours.
Whatever you choose to do -- or not to -- in the MouseFest schedule, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet up with like minded people and to put faces to the names that bring us all so much enjoyment all year round with their guidebooks, web sites and online communities. If you're thinking of attending your first MouseFest, my advice? Don't wait any longer - make a booking and join in. You won't regret it.

The MouseFest Land Event schedule is chock full of a wide variety of meets in each of the four major theme parks, Downtown Disney, and also at some of the resorts.
Here is a taste of some of the meets recently added to the schedule:

MouseFest 2007 Cruise News
==========================================
With 168 cruisers and a great schedule of events, the fifth annual MouseFest cruise is shaping up to be a WONDERful time as always!
We announced in our last two newsletters that the grand prize for our "Wonderful" Stateroom Door Decorating Contest is a two-night stay at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin! Deb and Jennifer will determine the grand prize winner by doing a random drawing from among the five stateroom finalists. Runners up will be awarded prizes from PassPorter and AllEarsNet. The Grand Prize will be presented by Randall L. Dobson, a Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort representative who will be onboard the cruise with us.
TIP: You can view photos of decorated doors from our last MouseFest cruise and get decorating tips and hints, too -- visit http://www.mousefest.org/cruiseevents2007.asp
Did you know there is a scheduled shuttle launch from Port Canaveral the day we return from our cruise? The Shuttle Atlantis is currently scheduled for launch on December 6 at 4:30 pm. While staying to watch the launch isn't an option for some of us as there are MouseFest events starting at 1:00 pm, others may wish to stay. Good viewing sites for the general public include the Cocoa Beach Pier and any of the beaches south of Port Canaveral along the Space Coast. For more information, visit Kennedy Space Center's site at http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/launches/scheduleStatus.asp .
There's just so much to do! You'll find a full listing of MouseFest Cruise events at:
