MouseFest Feature Article: MouseFest Cruisin'
==========================================
By Ray Sharpton

This will be my third cruise, all on the four day Disney Wonder with Mousefest. I absolutely love cruising on the Disney Wonder.

I have some thoughts of cruising solo I'd like to share with you. First, I never thought that I would be able to afford to cruise by myself. I always heard of cruises teaming up roommates together, but I have never been much for sharing a room. I just couldn't see spending all of that money for one person in one stateroom and then being by myself the whole cruise and sitting at a table for dinner for myself. Boy was wrong!!!

I was at MouseFest event one evening at the beautiful Boardwalk Grand Villa overlooking Crescent Lake It was beautiful and fun. Well, a lot of the MouseFest attendees at the party were talking about their MouseFest cruise -- how much fun it was to be together and all the fun events. I became more interested when I heard several of the people had traveled solo on the cruise.

Having so much fun talking with everyone at the MouseFest party on land and thinking about being with all of these Disney fans on the same cruise enticed me. I also found out that Disney caters to solo travelers, too. I was glad that I talked to other Disney fans that had a great time traveling solo, because they didn't feel like they were alone on a MouseFest cruise filled with like minded friends from the Internet.I also found out that a solo can get one stateroom for 175% the cost of a couple. I still thought that this was maybe to much. But then I saw that MouseFest Authorized Travel Providers will sometimes book a group of staterooms way in advance which allows for great deals on the cabins.

Then I saw where I could meet other Disney webmasters and Disney authors onboard, too. On my first MouseFest cruise, I was able to sit with other Mousefesters at dinner every night. We developed close friendships and had lots of fun. There were special meets during the cruise held by the different authors like Dr. Steven Barrett of the his book, "Hidden Mickeys". Steve was able to give a great tour onboard the Wonder searching for hidden Mickeys. Dave Marx, author of his many books called "PassPorter" for Walt Disney World and Disney Cruising giving a personal tour of Nassau and other meets. Deb Wills, author of her wonderful book by PassPorter called "Walt Disney World Your Special Needs" and AllEarsNet.Com lead a morning walk around the boat, had relaxing lounge meets and more. I think that there must be several clones of Deb Wills because she was everywhere.

And I haven't even talked about what the Disney Wonder Cruise has to offer without all of the MouseFest stuff going on.

Wonderful areas to visit without feeling crowded; at least that is what I experienced. The huge Walt Disney Theater that expands the whole width of the ship which showed top notch live stage shows every night (these are not to be missed). The meals are incredible whether sitting down at dinner, lunch, breakfast, snacks, lounges, pubs, and 24 hour in room food service. You can watch first run movies in the Buena Vista Theater! Try adding the cost of these things on land and subtracting it from the cost of the cruise.

Have I mentioned the great parties like the Sail Away Celebration or Pirates in the Caribbean Night?

I can't say enough about the Castaway Cay Island with all the amenities. Different areas of the island for every taste. The Wonder docks at it's own dock with a tram to take you most of the way to the beach. Another tram that takes you to the private adult beach at Serenity Bay. Just beautiful. And meals on the island or onboard. The wonderful hammocks on the beach. And, then there is the parasailing meet. I liked the pub lounge with the huge comfy chairs to watch flat screen TV's and Sunday night and Monday night football after dinner. I really like the huge port holes in the pub.

I was really overwhelmed by the super pampering that I received the whole trip. I never felt so special. Boy did that throw out the notion of feeling alone. And did I mention going out at any time of the day or night and relaxing on the padded, wooden lounge chairs to just relax, close my eyes, listen to the ocean, and relax...relax...relax. I wish that there were more than 24 hours in a day.

I plan on cruising with MouseFest every December until I can no longer afford it or I, well, am not around anymore.

Think about joining us sometime! You'll be glad you did!
